Helping to Light the Night

Over the weekend I was able to participate in a great event, Light the Night, organized by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). I don’t know how much was raised in particular by the local event (and other night events have happened around the country on different days), but from what I have heard through the grapevine it has been in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. And donate enough and you get free stuff!

The balloon also has a light in it that flashes. So cool! You want it, don’t you? Well then, donate!

What was also good about participating in this was that the LLS was partnering with Foundation Beyond Belief, which is a great humanist/secular charity which also helps in disaster relief and all-around helping people.

I mentioned this event when I talked about the Doctors Without Borders blogathan from earlier this year, and hopefully they will take in enough to have raised $1 million for cancer research. There is still time to donate and have a matching offer (up to the first $500k) along with any matching offers you place of business may have. I strongly urge you to support this great cause. It will make you happy. Don’t believe me? Well, look at these happy folks from the local Secular Student Alliance!

Just look at those happy heathens.
